Speakers at the University of Findlay’s May 2017 commencement urged new graduates to advance professionally and personally through pushing boundaries and improving other’s lives. Adan Hechko ’02, DVM, spoke at the Graduate ceremony and stated, "I dare each of you to go beyond your comfort zone. Stay true to yourself.” Senator Randy Gardner spoke at the undergraduate ceremony not only to speak to students, but also congratulate his son on receiving his degree. Gardner stressed, "The lesson is that everyone matters. You are a success. You have achieved something special. You are a human being of boundless potential to help others.” Both speeches spoke volumes to students on why service matters over self.
